Hotel to re-open on 5th March

Hotel Golden Apple Kalpa has been closed for the winter months due to severity of cold and danger of heavy snow. It is slated to re-open on 5th March, subject to maximum snow thickness on the hotel compound is 5 feet. Kolkata office is in constant touch with the hotel about the status of snowfall. The hotel would also take appropriate steps to clear the excess accumulated snow from the hotel compound. Kalpa is under heavy snow

05-Feb-2012 Kalpa is covered under snow since 6th February. Usually, continuous snow fall starts from 3rd week of January onwards. This time snow has come bit late. Presently the accumulated snow thickness is about 4 ft in the apple orchard of Hotel Golden Apple Kalpa. Sometimes it rises up to 13 ft and the ground floor becomes fully submerged. Since, the outer wall is made of stone, no damage is caused to the building.

The tourists proceeding towards Kalpa or further north, should take appropriate care.

Roads to Sangla closed

Roads to Sangla is reported closed due to snow. More than 3 ft of snow on the village road. Some villagers who went outside are now waiting at Rampur for safe access to their village.
