The beginning:

I visited Kalpa first time in 1997 with my family as tourist. During my service tenure in State Bank of India, I got numerous opportunities to visit many places in India for official purposes as well as rest & recuperation under LTC. But the job could not restrict me to gather the social information about the people & places wherever I went. I spent many days at beautiful places, forest lodges, beach resorts, archeological towns, hill stations, etc. But Kalpa had attracted me so greatly that I had fallen in love with the place. Even in a materialistic way of thinking, amongst all other places in India Kalpa is the best in all respect. It has all the qualities of good and peaceful living which no place can provide. The mind becomes sublime regardless of its state in the endless natural beauty and blissful environment.

It was our dream to live at this place after retirement. I resigned from the service at Mumbai. With the lots of labour and determination, the dream has finally came to reality. A small hotel was established in the newly constructed building in 2004 with all modern amenities which the guests are habituated to, at the most beautiful location 9600 ft above mean sea-level on the Great Himalayas facing the Kinner Kailash so as to make it "the second home" for all. Weather and touring season

If you try to find a cold and beautiful place. Kalpa is the choicest one. It does not receive rain much but remains cold throughout the year.

Yes. Absolutely right. If you are fond of natural beauty, colorful mountain ranges and clean atmosphere with full of ultra-violet rays of the sun at an altitude of 9600 Ft, Kalpa is the right place to enjoy. You can perceive the change of mind to a blissful state. No other place on the earth can give you such satisfaction. The people from all over the world come to this place not only once but several times. One can enjoy the holidays in the lap of the Great Himalayas.

News from Golden Apple

12-Nov-09: Kalpa has received the first snow fall of the ensuing winter season. The water in the pipe has frozen. Traffic between Kalpa and Recong Peo (11 KM down the mountain slope) was closed for a few hours. The hotel has been closed till 28-Feb-10 for safety of the tourists.

The tourists proceeding towards Kalpa or further north, should take appropriate care.

Your second home

Although, it is Himachal Pradesh Government approved hotel and the tariff is notified by them, in true sense, you would feel as your "Second home", when you will be here. We create a long-standing relationship with you. As regard comfort, safety, cleanliness, food, you will find a homely touch. The amenities like washing machine, computer with broadband internet, automatic electric blanket does not let you feel that you are away from home. The kitchen is also not far from your reach. The food is freshly prepared to suit your palate. Use of color and cheap cooking oil is banned in our kitchen. The hotel has 10 spacious well furnished rooms with attached bath. The mountain ranges are viewable from all the rooms i.e. front or rear.

Places to visit from Kalpa

Keeping Kalpa as base station different important places can be visited without necessitating overnight stay viz. Sangla, Chitkul, Nako, Akpa, Kafnu, Sarahan, etc. Whereas visit to Tabo and Kaza requires at least one night stay at Kaza.
